Committee Comments, Questions, Concerns

  • What kind of evergreens will you be using?
  • What is the intent of the 2x4's?  It will be used as a mold/forms
  • Will you be removing the two bollards and the phone booth? Yes
  • What is the distance from the bottom of parking stall to the landscaping strip. If you have about 50' left can the planting bed be widen?
  • Suggest something that will grow shorter than 6 feet tall.  Select a juniper that will only grow to 3-4 feet.
  • Are you laying the mulch on top of the existing asphalt?
  • Suggest using a cedar timber instead of the treated ties because of the chemicals.
  • Suggest that you keep a falling zone open when you are selecting the smaller playground equipment (6-8feet)
  • Is the parking lot well-lit?
  • Is there a fence on the property line?  Yes it is already existing.

Tim Tramble here (Burten Bell Carr) as a supporter of the project.  The property owner is also here in support of the project.

Motion to approve with the condition to widen the planting bed in the front, choose a lower-growing evergreen material, select playground equipment that will maintain a clear fall zone, use cedar timber instead of pressure treated road-ties for the play area, add a shade tree to the front landscape strip (something like a redmaple or armstrong redmaple or hornsby so that it is more columnar in growth).
